Community ConnectionsGolden Belt Bank has been locally owned and operated since 1920. As a business, we understand and appreciate just how important a community is. We take great pride in our community and strive to make Ellis County a better place to live and work. That's why our motto is, "What's good for the community is good for Golden Belt Bank!" At Golden Belt Bank we love being involved in the community. Read on to learn just a few ways we are involved.
Golden Belt Bank Scholarship
At Golden Belt Bank, we are proud of the students in our community, and we firmly believe in making an investment in their future and in the future of our community. That's why each year we award one senior from each Ellis County high school a $1,000 scholarship. To date we have awarded over $48,000 in scholarships to local students.
It may seem a little strange, but wearing jeans on Fridays is a treat for everyone here at Golden Belt Bank. Why? Because not only do we get to wear jeans, but more importantly we get to give back. That's right our employees pay to wear jeans on Fridays. 100% of our jean day money plus a matching donation from Golden Belt Bank goes to a different local charity each quarter. So the next time you stop by and we are wearing jeans, ask us who we are donating to this quarter.
Meals on Wheels
First Call for Help, through its Meals on Wheels program, works to serve a nutritious daily meal with a smile and friendly "hello" to Hays residents who are elderly, disabled or otherwise home-bound. Our employees team up twice a year to help deliver meals for this program, smile and hello included!
Hays Area Chamber of Commerce
A successful business community = a successful community = a successful Golden Belt Bank. Those aren't just words to us, they are at the heart of everything we do here at Golden Belt Bank. We can't support our business community if we are not actively engaged with it. One of the ways we are plugged into the business community is through the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce. You will see members of our staff frequently at ribbon cuttings, Chamber Chats, and monthly member luncheons. And, at least once a year, we host a Chamber Chat at our Hays office.
TGOF (Tiger Gold on Friday)
From sponsoring events and activities at Ellis High School, Hays High School, Thomas More Prep-Marian High School and Victoria High School to getting out there and supporting our schools in the stands, the Golden Belt Bank family has fun showing our school spirit. Stop by Golden Belt Bank on Friday, and chances are we will be proudly wearing Tiger Gold from our heads to our toes!
In order to bring home the bacon, someone has to raise the pork. From sunup to sundown, farmers and ranchers work the ground and tend their animals each and every day. Agriculture has been a mainstay in the local economy from the beginning, and at Golden Belt Bank we want to say "thank you" to our local farmers and ranchers for all they do for the Ellis County community. That's why we proudly sponsor the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Agriculture Appreciation dinner each year.
